Tatum O'Neal / Patty Duke / Anna Paquin
If we can expect a famous actress to receive an Oscar, it’s less likely for a child-actor to get even nominated for an award. But it happens.
In the history of the Academy Awards, a few kids-stars have been nominated and even won Oscars. Here’s the list:
- Tatum O’Neal (10-year-old) for ‘Paper Moon’
- Patty Duke (16) for ‘The Miracle Worker’
- Anna Paquin (11) for ‘The Piano’.
It’s probably overwhelming and beautiful to be nominated for an Oscar, especially when you are a child. But, to prove that being nominated when you are just a child, doesn’t guarantee you’re going to win just because you are a child, a few stars have been up for Oscars, without actually winning any. - Mary Badham (10) for ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ in 1962;
- Jodie Foster (14) for ‘Taxi Driver’ in 1976 ;
- Quinn Cummings (10) for ‘Goodbye Girl’ in 1977;
- Keisha Castle-Hughes (13) for ‘Whale Rider’ in 2004;
- Abigail Breslin (10) for ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ in 2007;
- Hailee Steinfeld (14) for ‘True Grit’ in 2011.
