Andrea Bocelli welcomed daughter Virgina last week. According to Britain’s Hello! magazine, the Italian tenor’s fiancee Veronica Berti gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday, March 21. Veronica Berti is also Boticelli’s manager.

Virgina “is of Etruscan origin. The thing I like about this name is that none of my friends has it”, Berti explained. Virgina is Bocelli and Berti’s first child together. “With a dad and two older brothers she will have very attentive bodyguards”, Berti added.

Bocelli is already a father to sons Amos, 17, and Matteo, 14 from his marriage to Enrica Cenzatti. The singer and Enrica are still married, but they separated in 2002.

The 53-year-old ‘Time to Say Goodbye‘ singer is a three-time Grammy Award nominee.

Unfortunately, he has been blind since a soccer accident at age 12. Back in 1998, People Magazine named the singer one of the 50 Most Beautiful People. Born with sight issues, Bocelli was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma. In 1970, Bocelli was accidentally hit on the head during a match, he suffered a brain hemorrhage and he remained blind.

According to Wikipedia, ‘The Prayer’, his duet with Celine Dion for the film ‘The Quest for Camelot’, won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. The duet was also nominated for an Academy Award in the same category.

His album, ‘Sacred Arias’, listed the singer in the Guinness Book of World Records, as he simultaneously held the top 3 positions on the US classical albums charts. ‘Time to Say Goodbye’ has sold over 12 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.

In March 2010, Bocelli was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to Live Theater. In December 2011, Bocelli launched the Andrea Bocelli Foundation which fights poverty and fund medical research.
